The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the UK government’s lead authority on cyber security. Its headquarters are in London, but its roots are in GCHQ’s world-class expertise. NCSC is at the heart of the Government’s new cyber security strategy and has the aim of making the UK the safest place to live and do business online.
 
The NCSC has quickly become a leading national voice on one of the most important issues of our time. It is simplifying the current cyber security landscape and seeks to:

• Reduce the cyber security risk to the UK
• Respond effectively to cyber incidents
• Understand the UK’s cyber security environment, sharing knowledge, addressing systemic vulnerabilities
• Nurture the UK’s cyber security capability, providing leadership on key national cyber security issues

What will the successful candidate be doing?

You will oversee the transformation and smooth running of the strategic communications and marketing function, working closely with the media team. This will include the following:

• Setting the communications priorities for the department
• Leading a virtual cross-Government team for a new Cyber Aware campaign, managing multiple agencies, budgets and delivery
• Owning the narrative and messaging for NCSC, ensuring this flows through all external publications
• Managing an events team delivering high profile events such as CyberUK, NATO meetings  and internal stakeholder events
• Leadership of a cross-Whitehall cyber security community and grid of planned activity
• Oversight of a speakers programme for Directors
• Growing the Strategic Communications team in terms of impact and delivery, ensuring insight, evaluation and planning are at the heart of everything we do

You will lead a team of around 18 people based in London and Cheltenham.

Developed Vetting (DV) is a requirement of this post and if you do not already hold this level of clearance, we will require you to pass this before you take up the post.
