The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), part of GCHQ, is the UK Government’s lead authority on cyber security. The organisation is at the heart of the Government’s cyber security strategy and has the aim of making the UK the safest place to live and work online.   

We are recruiting an Engagement Manager for the Industry Assurance Team (IAT).

IAT’s goal is to contribute to keeping the UK safe from cyber threats, increasing the NCSC’s reach by harnessing the UK’s Cyber Security industry.
 
We’re doing this by building and supporting a catalogue of assured cyber security products and services that help organisations achieve good cyber security, appropriate to the threats they face. We are also supporting a thriving UK Cyber Security industry by licencing the NCSC brand, so consumers know who and what they can trust.

The Engagement Lead will:

•    Be responsible for building a strategic narrative and engagement strategy to highlight the important work that IAT does both within NCSC and externally.
•    Work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across the breadth of services offered by IAT.
•    Ensure IAT is represented within the cyber ecosystem at annual events internally and externally.
•    Ensure consistent language and brand is used across all of the products and services that IAT is responsible for.

Job Description

What will the successful candidate be doing?

As the Engagement Lead, you will continue to build IAT’s compelling narrative to show why the services provided are so important for cyber security in the UK. This involves you creating and maintaining an engagement plan with regular stakeholder meetings both internally and externally across industry and other government departments. 

Deciding on the stories to share, tailoring communications to a variety of stakeholders and making sure that what the Industry Assurance Team does is known and its positive impact is critical to the success of this role.

Being part of the cyber ecosystem is an important part of Industry Assurance’s role, therefore, the organisation of events and engagements to further increase knowledge are also at the heart of this requirement.

Person Specification

The successful applicant will have:

•    A background in forging excellent relationships at all levels and across a diverse stakeholder landscape. 
•    The ability to listen to a wealth of information and discern the most important information to be shared, tailoring this, as needed, to the required audience.
•    The ability to prioritise complex and competing demands.
•    Communications or engagement experience, whether professionally or personally.

In addition:

•    Experience of working with industry and/or government department would be advantageous particularly in a stakeholder management or engagement role.
•    Experience of organising events, particularly complex ones is desirable.


GCHQ Competency Requirements

The NCSC will assess you against competencies used by the UK Intelligence Community. These competencies are based closely on the Civil Service Behaviours. The competencies you will be assessed against are:

This role requires the highest security clearance, known as Developed Vetting (DV). It’s something everyone in the UK Intelligence Community undertakes. You can find out more about the vetting process here

The role is based in Cheltenham, Central London or Central Manchester, so you’ll need to live within a commutable distance. Please consider any financial implications and practicalities before submitting an application, as we do not offer relocation costs.

Our Vetting
