At MI5, we safeguard the UK from threats such as terrorism, espionage and cyber-crime. Working with our partners MI6 and GCHQ, we gather vital intelligence that helps protect our national security. Our operations are hugely varied, which is why increasing the diversity of our people is needed more than ever.

Our commercial function plays a key role in keeping the UK safe. We now have a range of opportunities available for individuals looking to develop a rewarding career within a unique commercial setting. Inclusion is at the heart of our mission, and there’s no one ‘type’ of person we recruit. You’ll combine your experience in the commercial arena with your talent for customer service as you deliver vital support to colleagues, suppliers and partners across the Intelligence Agencies.

We’ll shortly be recruiting for the following roles:

Associate Commercial Lead
Overseeing the entire lifecycle of unique procurement projects, you’ll be a role model for your team and strive to enhance the customer experience.

Commercial Practitioner
You’ll provide a responsive, efficient service, ensuring projects are delivered on time and keeping internal and external partners updated on progress.

Associate Commercial Practitioner
Supporting the team in delivering a range of key procurement activities, you’ll assist with contract implementation and management, and build supplier relationships.

No matter your experience or background, you’ll receive dedicated support from day one. You’ll have an assigned mentor and regular check-ins with your manager, as well as gaining access to a wealth of core and technical skills training. Plus, you’ll have opportunities to gain professional qualifications such as CIPS. We have a range of internal communities and networks supporting ethnic minority and female colleagues, as well as LGBTQIA+, disability, religion and social mobility, so you’ll quickly settle in and build a rewarding career at the heart of national security.

The application window for our Commercial roles will open on Monday 27th March 2023 at 10am. In the meantime, we encourage:

•    All those from an ethnic minority background
•    Women (of any background)
•    All those with a disability (of any background)

to register their interest for these forthcoming opportunities*.

As part of the registration of interest, you will be invited to several online events prior to the application window opening. There will be Insight Events, where you can find out more about the roles. We are also offering a Skills Event, which will provide general tips on the recruitment process including completing our application form and preparing for our interview. These events will run on:

Insight Events – Wednesday 22nd March 2023 (1230pm and 6pm)
Skills Event – Thursday 23rd March 2023 (1pm)

The events will last for approximately 1 hour.

Please note that a registration of interest does not constitute a job application, nor will such registration have any bearing upon the recruitment process itself.  Any individuals who register their interest and who decide subsequently to apply for these will need to complete an application form once the window for applications has opened.

*We are confining registrations of interest to these groups only, due to their current under-representation in our workforce. Once the application window has opened, we welcome applications from all candidates, regardless of their ethnic background, gender, disability and/or any other characteristic(s). Please check our nationality eligibility criteria requirements. All applications will be assessed solely on merit.

This Program / Vacancy is closed to applications.
