At MI5, MI6 and GCHQ, we work together to keep the UK safe. And our Internal Audit and Consultancy Team are crucial to that. When you join, you’ll deliver value and insight across all three agencies and enjoy some incredibly impactful audit work.

We’re now looking for an Internal Auditor, Senior Internal Auditor and a Deputy Head of Internal Audit. All the roles work across the intelligence community. So whether you’re leading the team or developing your skills, you’ll deliver internal audit assurance and advisory work across a wide range of topics. You’ll review capabilities essential to our mission and look at the legal frameworks underpinning our work. It’s unique audit work where you’ll take pride in delivering high quality and impactful services.

Depending on the role, we’ll look for a different level of experience. But there are some skills that are valuable across the department. You’ll need to hold (or be working towards) a relevant qualification, be comfortable working at pace and enjoy working collaboratively. Plus, you’ll be able to interact with a range of people, including stakeholders, customers, and your team.

Internal Auditor

You’ll work across the intelligence community. So you’ll have the chance to deliver internal audit assurance across some unique and impactful areas.

Senior Internal Auditor

Reviewing everything from capabilities essential to our missions to legal frameworks underpinning our work, you’ll deliver value and insight across all three intelligence agencies.

Deputy Head of Internal Audit

Joining our senior leadership team, you’ll lead our hugely rewarding audit programme and inspire a talented team across the intelligence community.

If successful, you will not normally be required to give up your non-British citizenship but, as a condition of your employment or secondment, MI5, MI6 and GCHQ may impose restrictions on your postings, work travel and/or general use of that nationality. Candidates must normally have been resident in the UK for seven out of the last ten years. This is particularly important if you were born outside the UK. Each case will be carefully considered on its own facts. You can apply at the age of 17 years and 6 months, if successful you will not be offered a start date prior to your 18th birthday.
