We’re GCHQ, a world-leading intelligence, cyber and security agency. Our mission? To unlock the complex world of communications and keep the UK safe. Working closely with our partners in the intelligence community, we protect the nation’s people, interests and businesses from threats including serious and organised crime, terrorism, and cyber-attacks.

Does the idea of working with cutting-edge technology sound exciting? Are you a problem-solver who enjoys thinking creatively? Do you want to join a diverse team of technological experts who share your curiosity? We’ll support you with access to training, including the opportunity to gain formal qualifications (dependent on the role). No matter what stage of your career you’re at, you’ll be keen to develop your skills, gain experience in a technical role – and make a real contribution towards our national security.

We’ll shortly be recruiting for a variety of roles including:

Cyber Security Development Programme
Over two years, you’ll explore the cyber security landscape through placements within the business, receive extensive support and formal training, and ultimately apply to an information security role with the organisation.

Senior and Lead Software Engineers
Using a range of software engineering methods, languages and frameworks, you’ll lead a team solving mission problems while making strategic contributions and ensuring best practice.

Software Engineers and Junior Software Engineers
You’ll join an Agile team tackling real-world problems with a variety of software engineering technologies including JavaScript, Java, C++, Node, Python, Rust, Go and .NET.

Infrastructure Engineer
You’ll work on unique and exciting projects, finding solutions and developing new capabilities across hardware, software and cloud platforms.

Weapons Systems Analyst
You’ll conduct technical data analysis to understand foreign weapon capabilities and technologies, using your knowledge to inform UK defence planning.

Industrial Systems Technical Analyst
Using analytical techniques and your own technical knowledge to solve intriguing problems, you’ll gain valuable insights that inform government decisions.

The application window for our technical roles will open on Thursday 28th July at 10:00. In the meantime, we’d be particularly keen for candidates who are Female or from an Ethnic Minority background* to register their interest for these forthcoming opportunities. As part of the registration of interest, you will be invited to an online event prior to the campaign opening. These events will be split into specialisms as follows:

Software Engineers (Junior, Engineer, Senior and Lead Software Engineers) – Tuesday 26th July
All other roles (as above) – Wednesday 27th July

These will run at 1pm and 6pm and last for approximately 1 hour.

Please note that a registration of interest does not constitute a job application, nor will such registration have any bearing upon the recruitment process itself.  Any individuals who register their interest and who decide subsequently to apply for these roles, will need to complete an application form once the window for applications has opened.

* We are confining registrations of interest to these groups only, due to their current under-representation in our workforce. Once the application window has opened, we welcome applications from all candidates, regardless of their ethnic background, gender, and/or any other characteristic(s). All applications will be assessed solely on merit.

This Program / Vacancy is closed to applications.
