Are you a British national with strong skills in European languages?  Would you like to use those language skills in support of British Intelligence, and potentially apply them to the study of Mandarin Chinese?  If so, read on!

GCHQ, one of the UK’s three intelligence agencies, will soon be looking to recruit graduates in any TWO of French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese for the following positions:

-    Language Analyst roles in Cheltenham
-    Language re-training in Mandarin Chinese in Manchester

If you have a 2.1 degree in any TWO of the above languages or are about to enter the final year of your degree in TWO of these languages and are on track to achieve a 2.1 degree, then we’d love to hear from you.

An in-depth knowledge and understanding of a variety of communities and languages isn’t just an advantage, it is crucial to our work.  We will be looking for well-motivated people who are comfortable with IT and happy to work in a constantly changing technological environment.  You will also need to have drive, initiative, perseverance and a naturally enquiring and analytical mind, capable of looking beyond the obvious.  However, you don’t need to be a technical expert as full training will be provided.   And to be considered for training in Mandarin Chinese, no prior knowledge is required, but a real talent for learning languages and the enthusiasm and motivation to succeed in the study of a challenging new language!
