GCHQ’s profile on cyber policy topics has never been higher and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the on the front line of protecting the country from cyber-attacks. We’re at the heart of the Government’s strategy for making the UK secure and resilient to the cyber threat, prosperous and confident in the digital world.  

The NCSC Economy and Society team is one of three Resilience teams in the NCSC. It aims to provide cyber security advice, guidance and services to a wide range of sectors including businesses, educational organisations, charities and citizens. The Economy and Society team prides itself on being a friendly and supportive team and is regularly one of the highest scoring teams for “engagement” in the staff survey.

This role is advertised as ‘any location’ but the primary location for this role is likely to be working from home, with the ability to travel to Cheltenham or London as required.

We are open to receiving applications from people who wish to work flexibly, part-time or in job share roles, and are willing to consider reducing the scope of the role to accommodate any such requirements.

What will the successful candidate be doing?

We have a number of GC9 vacancies in the team. These roles will support the development and dissemination of guidance, tools and services to our sectors and the public. It will involve close working with a wide range of cross sector partners, NCSC colleagues and other government departments.

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, proactive, organised and team players who can comfortably deal with internal and external stakeholders. Previous relationship management experience would be beneficial but not essential. An understanding of cyber security can be developed in post and is not an essential requirement.  

Who are you looking for?  

The role:

•    Building an in depth knowledge of our sectors, the partners and their requirements to ensure our activity supports their needs.
•    Ensuring the principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are included in every action undertaken.
•    Identifying, developing and delivering innovative and mutually beneficial activity with sector partners.
•    Working with colleagues in the team to create accessible and actionable cyber security products and services.
•    Working closely with E&S colleagues to ensure your work aligns and complements wider team activity
•    Identifying ways to evaluate activity and measure impact to ensure the NCSC continually evolves its support to the sector or citizens.
•    Drafting presentations, reports or papers as appropriate.
•    Representing the NCSC externally at a range of different meetings and events
•    Assisting the wider team as appropriate depending on priorities.
•    Helping the sector lead to develop strategic plans.
•    Work with colleagues across the NCSC to develop products and services and promote them to sectors, as appropriate.
The scope of these responsibilities may be subject to change as the work of the team evolves to meet requirements of the new National Cyber Strategy.
