As one of Britain’s intelligence agencies, we unlock the complex world of communications to keep our nation safe. We work closely with MI5 and MI6, our partners in the intelligence community, to safeguard Britain’s people, interests and businesses from various threats. Think cyber-attacks, espionage, terrorism, and organised crime. It’s challenging, varied and meaningful work that you simply won’t find anywhere else.

GCHQ is offering you an exciting opportunity to join our Programme Management Office as a Project Control Officer (PCO).

THE ROLE

As a PCO, you’ll be required to collate data, identify and analyse problems, draft reports and use logic and persuasion to influence stakeholders. Providing support to the Project Manager and team on governance issues, a consummate communicator you’ll engage with stakeholders and project leads at all levels across the business and will contribute to the continuing development of the Project Management Office (PMO).

The PMO is evolving to meet our changing business needs, you’ll need to be comfortable with change. Working closely with colleagues you’ll deliver high-value activities to include finance, planning, risks and issues.

Key aspects of your work include correct adherence to agreed project tools, organising, supporting and co-ordinating key projects and project lifecycle meetings. Providing guidance on PRINCE2 and Agile Methodologies (training will be provided).

Our flexible working policy ensures a healthy work-life balance. Wherever possible, we look to accommodate reduced hours or job share options balanced against business needs.

REQUIREMENTS

We want an enthusiastic and highly organised individual with a good attention to detail, along with communications skills. You’ll be dealing with large budgets and therefore you’ll need a good understanding of finance as this will play a large part in some of the PCO roles.  Experience of a PMO role would be desirable but it’s more important that you are a team player and comfortable with change.

PRINCE2 at Foundation/Practitioner level, or experience of Agile methodologies are desirable but not essential, as full training is provided.

If you’re excited about working with us and think you have some of what we’re looking for but aren’t sure if you’re 100% there yet… why not just give it a go!

The UK Intelligence Agencies – MI5 / MI6 / GCHQ – are Equal Opportunities employers, committed to reflecting the society we protect.  Our recruitment process is fair, transparent and based on merit.  We particularly welcome applications from diverse and under-represented groups.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

At GCHQ we’re proud of our inclusive and supportive working environment that’s designed to encourage open minds and attitudes. As an organisation that values and nurtures talent, we’re committed to helping you fulfil your potential. With comprehensive training and development opportunities, tailored to your needs and the requirements of your work, we’ll enable you to flourish in your role and perform to the very best of your abilities.
