GCHQ, the longest standing code-breaking intelligence agency in the UK, is offering you two exciting opportunities to join one of our Protective Security Teams at our new facility in Manchester. We are recruiting for both Security Officer Shift Supervisor and Security Officer roles.

THE ROLE

It’s a unique opportunity to be part of the team that is the front door to all visitors and makes them feel welcome, that protects the physical security and implements Counter Terrorist security measures at our GCHQ sites, to reduce the risk of unauthorised entry and to protect our assets and people. These measures form part of a layered approach to security and balance prevention, protection and response.

As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll be leading one of the shift teams. In both roles you’ll be part of a team developing security at this new site.

REQUIREMENTS

It is not essential to have a background working in security as training will be provided. You’ll complete a number of security industry accredited courses, including CCTV and First Aid at Work.

We are looking for people who are comfortable making decisions and are able to demonstrate excellent customer service. You need to be a good communicator and able to balance security and operational requirements when the need arises. The requirement to manage competing priorities means you’ll need to be calm when under pressure.

As a Shift Supervisor you’ll need to be comfortable in being able to make decisions and be able to demonstrate excellent team leadership and customer service skills.

SALARY

Security Officer Shift Supervisor starting salary of £34,701.03.
Security Officer starting salary of £24,598.35.

Selection for either role will be based on skills and experience.

Both salaries are on a pro rata basis and include a shift disturbance payment of 33 percent. You will be working on a 12 hour shift pattern.
