Summary of role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the NCSC Strategic Communications team, focusing on Events and Internal Communications, within the NCSC’s headquarters in Nova South.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the UK’s authority for cyber security advice and incident management and aims to make the UK the safest place to live and work online. The NCSC manages national cyber incidents, provides the centre of expertise on cyber security, and delivers tailored support and advice to departments, regulators and industry. An essential part of our strategic objectives is promoting our work and messaging through various channels of communications, both externally by engaging with stakeholders through our busy programme of events, and internally to cascade messaging with colleagues – this is where you come in.

What will the successful candidate be doing?

We are looking for a motivated, creative and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team. This is a diverse role with unique and varied opportunities to work with senior government ministers, engage in our flagship annual event (CYBERUK), learn about our external Speakers programme, work on virtual events, get stuck into our new filming studio and deliver key messaging to staff through internal communications.

You will also have the chance to get involved in the wider work of the team and support important issues such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and further develop your core communications skills.

Your team will be based in both London and Cheltenham, and the role offers a mixture of both on-site and remote working, based on business requirements and your personal preference.

Key responsibilities:

•    Supporting the delivery and facilitation of both internal and external events including the management of a dedicated 200-person events space within our headquarters
•    Facilitating the day-to-day running of our new filming studio
•    Coordinating NCSC presence at external events through our Speakers Programme and on-site exhibitions including for running external stands
•    Delivery of internal virtual events such as Town Halls
•    Developing strong relationships across the various NCSC Business Support functions
•    Creating and uploading engaging content across our internal comms channels
•    Putting forward your own creative ideas to support our internal comms priorities
•    Evaluating our communications activity and seeking constant improvements

•    You will have experience in supporting on a range of different activities within or closely linked to an events or communications team
•    You will have excellent organisation skills
•    You will be a clear and confident writer and verbal communicator
•    You will have strong collaborative skills and enjoy working in a team
•    You will be able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment
•    Ideally, you will have logistical experience including high levels of customer service
•    Ideally, you will have some experience of branding, marketing and creating digital content

- Personal interview - You will be contacted by email and offered a time and date for interview. The interview will be via remote video conference and will take around 45 minutes. Interviews to be held early 2022.
- Drug test

The successful candidate will receive a fixed term job offer, conditional upon obtaining Secret Clearance (SC) security level. This offer is conditional upon you obtaining Developed Vetting (DV) status, the level of security required to perform this vital role, at which point if successful you’ll receive a permanent job offer.
