We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join our Internal Audit Team as an Auditor within our Programme Assurance and IT Audit areas. THE ROLE

We are looking for dynamic and committed people to support the Deputy Head of Internal Audit and the Senior Auditors. You’ll deliver internal audit assurance and advice to MI5, MI6 and GCHQ at pace, covering a wide range of topics. Your remit will focus on technology and how technology supports a range of business areas including operations, corporate services and shared services, as well as topics that are truly unique to the intelligence community such as reviews of mission focused capabilities, management of staff wellbeing, and adherence to the legal framework underpinning our work.

We are looking for someone who can understand and evaluate business arrangements quickly, and be a credible communicator who can interact with staff at all levels across the organisation.

In this challenging and rewarding role, your contribution will make a real difference.  You’ll provide customers with high quality assurance, advisory and investigatory services that help strengthen and enhance risk management, governance and internal control arrangements.

You’ll work on a range of assignments, sometimes as part of a small team and on other occasions on your own. Whatever the task you’ll be producing high quality reviews, to budget and agreed timescales.

REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for talented individuals with:

•    Internal audit and risk management background in the public and/ or private sector.
•    Experience of performing internal audits, with an ability to navigate ambiguity with purpose.
•    Desirable knowledge and experience of applying audit testing methodologies, data analysis, root cause analysis and strong report writing skills. This should include the ability to review the design of control processes and their operating effectiveness, while continuously looking at ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these processes.
•    Experience of working on a portfolio of audit assignments and an ability to manage competing priorities and deliver audit work at pace, to time and quality commitments.
•    The ability to engage and build relationships with stakeholders. This should include experience of negotiating and communicating with stakeholders at all levels in the organisation, to deliver difficult messages and influence change in a collaborative way.
•    A proactive mindset, with an ability to identify methods or approaches to continuously improve internal audit capabilities and ways of working.

It would be highly advantageous for you to have knowledge and experience of Technology auditing. Additionally, demonstrable understanding/expertise of technology platforms and product sets and/or experience in a first line role within an IT function is desirable. This experience might stem from time spent in operational support role for applications or infrastructure, or performing IT development work.

LOCATION

Central London and/or Cheltenham (located within an hour’s journey of Birmingham and Bristol). Please note, we do not cover relocation costs. 

Travel within the UK is essential, with a possibility of occasional overseas travel.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible to apply, you must meet our residency criteria. You must be a born or naturalised British citizen and one of your parents must be a British citizen or have substantial ties to the UK. Candidates must normally have been resident in the UK for nine out of the last 10 years. This is particularly important if you were born outside the UK. You will nonetheless be considered if you have, for example, served overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of Her Majesty's Government, studied abroad, or lived overseas with your parents. You can apply at the age of 17 years and 6 months, if successful you will not be offered a start date prior to your 18th birthday. Discretion is vital.
