GCHQ, the longest standing code-breaking intelligence agency in the UK, is offering you an exciting opportunity to join our NCSC Capability Infrastructure Department as a Lead Infrastructure Engineer.

THE ROLE

The National Cyber Security Centre is growing its internal engineering capability to prototype, build and operate systems and software to support the research and delivery needs for a number of teams and customers. This is a lead role in which the successful candidate will be expected to be the technical authority for a number of systems and performance manage a team of skilled engineers. You’ll be expected to perform and lead research into infrastructure engineering best practices, defining standards and roadmaps for both internal and external customers and to drive consistently high standards of delivery.

REQUIREMENTS

You’ll need to be an expert in building, deploying and supporting the architecture of modern and legacy enterprise systems. You’ll have an excellent understanding in a number of technologies, including how to appropriately secure and maintain them for different business functions. This should include cloud-based infrastructure, on-premises enterprise technologies, high security implementations and networking at scale. You’ll have a track record of successful delivery of infrastructure and technology projects as the Lead for a multi¬disciplinary team and should be experienced in Agile / DevOps practices. Key aspects of your work not only require peer discussion with very technical staff, but also programme and project managers to successfully gain funding and deliver outcomes as well as line management and the development of new and existing staff.

Cheltenham (located within an hour’s journey of Birmingham and Bristol)
