INTELLIGENCE ANALYST TRAINEE

GCHQ, the longest standing code-breaking intelligence agency in the UK, is offering you an exciting opportunity to join our organisation as an Intelligence Analyst Trainee at our new site in Manchester.

THE ROLE

GCHQ’s new Intelligence Analyst Trainee programme provides an exciting tailored development pathway to enable you to provide top class analyst support and to develop you into a future Intelligence Analyst. Through a range of interesting and stretching real world work, combined with a first class learning experience in a supportive training environment, you’ll develop all the experience, knowledge and skills required to take on an Analyst role within our unique organisation. You’ll also benefit from close support and mentoring from established Analysts and managers, learning directly from the best! You’ll be in a trainee role for around 2 years, during which time we expect you to move from an operational analyst support role to an independent Intelligence Analyst. If successful on the programme, as an Intelligence Analyst you will process a large range of data – defining, analysing, distilling and interpreting it in order to produce insightful and impactful reports for our partners and customers. This is an opportunity to be part of something bigger; to protect the country, your family and friends, as you gain exciting new skills and knowledge. The work itself is very broad and definitely benefits diversity of both background and approach.

REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for talented and committed individuals from all backgrounds. Our world will keep changing and you’ll need to be committed to continued development of your knowledge and skills. If you enjoy solving difficult problems, have a real passion for learning and are curious about how technology affects all of our lives, this could be just the opportunity you’ve been looking for!

You’ll need to be at least 18 years old.

You’ll have 2 A levels at grade C minimum, or equivalent qualifications. You’ll also have 5 GCSEs at grade C minimum (including Maths and English).

Alternatively, you’ll have 5 GCSEs at grade C minimum (including Maths and English) and at least 2 years’ work experience, from which you’ll be able to demonstrate your IT proficiency.

You should note that this is not a graduate level position. Our Intelligence Analyst role is more suited to those looking for a graduate job. We are likely to be recruiting for this role in early 2019. Please keep an eye on our website for details.

We welcome applications from people looking to work part-time, but will need you to be able to commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week during the trainee programme in order to undertake the full range of learning and consolidation opportunities.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

At GCHQ we’re proud of our inclusive and supportive working environment that’s designed to encourage open minds and attitudes. As an organisation that values and nurtures talent, we’re committed to helping you fulfil your potential. With comprehensive training and development opportunities that will include classroom-based learning, combined with placements in various teams and hands-on training, we’ll enable you to grow your knowledge and skills and perform to the best of your abilities. Supported by our collaborative learning environment, you’ll soon be working on projects that help keep Britain safe.
