Short Summary of role

The GCHQ Estates team are looking to bolster their Subject Matter Expert (SME) team for Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) to cover their Estates Portfolio in UK and overseas.

What will the successful candidate be doing?

As an SME M&E you will provide Technical support to Portfolio Project delivery team on aspects of design validation, M&E compliance, statutory legislation, authority standards validation, project snagging, equipment factory acceptance testing and M&E site control. Maintaining and delivering industry standards and best practice, across Estates in supporting Mission delivery.

Who are you looking for?  

We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual with a wide range of mechanical and electrical knowledge relevant to buildings infrastructure and services. The ideal candidate will have a solid M&E background with a recognised technical qualification, supported by relevant recent experience.

Key responsibilities:

You will be responsible for providing daily support to Estates Head of Support Services and site Senior Facilities Managers (SFM) on a varied and wide-ranging aspects of M&E services in support of the GCHQ’s mission. You will be the focal point for providing support to on all aspects of associated M&E infrastructure and critical assets throughout the estate.

Production and development of project Statement of Requirements for wide ranging and diverse projects and contract deliverables. Assist in M&E plant and equipment failure investigation, in addition to conducting condition survey of strategic and critical plant and equipment.

Have a close working relationship with the Total Facilities Management (TFM) provider on all aspects of M&E delivery, operation and maintenance.  Provide M&E support during Client/TFM collaborative auditing of the TFM Integrated Management System.

Provide support to the Estates Outage Manager on all aspect of outage delivery from outage planning through to outage site control and support.

Key Requirements:

The successful applicant will need to have:

• Professionally Qualified to CEng or IEng status or working towards. Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of H&S Legislation, ideally holding or working towards NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
• Have significant knowledge and experience with respect to HV/LV distribution, emergency standby systems, power generation, and Data Centre power and cooling. Have considerable knowledge of mechanical and electrical planned maintenance systems and computer aided facilities management (CAFM) systems.
• You will need to have strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to work with other members of the Estates Team. Good stakeholder management skills to develop strong working relationships.  It is also essential to be prepared to act on your own initiative and able to drive tasks through to a successful conclusion.
• Good working knowledge of BS7671 and associated electrical installation, design, testing and inspection experience.

Salary

Salary of £43,957 (on a pro rata basis) plus concessionary payment of £2,428 per annum. A recruitment bonus may be payable to the right candidate.
