GCHQ, the longest standing code-breaking intelligence agency in the UK, is offering you an exciting opportunity to join our Employee Assistance Team as an Employee Assistance Counsellor.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a qualified counsellor to work 22.5 hours per week and be primarily based at our Scarborough office. We want an enthusiastic and organised individual to provide a wide range of organisational support. Key aspects of our work will include assisting managers and staff through organisational processes, debriefing staff to monitor the psychological impacts of work, training delivery and drop in support. Part of the role involves carrying a personal counselling caseload. You'll join a small geographically split team, and expectations are that you'll take responsibility and work in situations without close supervision. A consummate communicator, the role requires confidentiality, discretion and good interpersonal skills.

We are looking for an individual who is flexible, robust, open-minded, dynamic, non-judgemental and able to establish good relationships with people of all levels throughout the organisation

To apply for this role, you'll need:

  • At least a Level 4 Diploma and have counselling experience and feel comfortable providing short term counselling (typically 6 sessions).
  • Registered with a relevant professional body e.g. BACP, NCS
  • Hold a full UK driving license and willing to travel

We would also expect knowledge of experience in the following fields

  • Accreditation with a relevant professional body e.g. BACP, NCS
  • Experience of organisational counselling
  • Experience of training delivery
