GCHQ, the longest standing code-breaking intelligence agency in the UK, is offering you an exciting opportunity to join our organisation as either an Access Operations Analyst or a Trainee Intrusion Analyst.

THE ROLES

Access Operations are responsible for work across GCHQ’s accesses ensuring that we are able to provide intelligence to support ongoing operations, as well as pioneering new capabilities. You could be identifying potentially crucial information to assist teams such as counter terrorism or serious crime.  Perhaps you have a background in or a passion for communications, mathematics or computer science.  Or, are you inquisitive, have a logical mind or are motivated to learn.  If so, a full training package will be provided to enable you to help us create unique solutions and become part of the Access Operations Team.

Trainee Intrusion Analysts within NCSC work closely with law enforcement agencies as well as the intelligence community and industry, to help prevent, disrupt and investigate cybercrime and other cyber related threats. Cyber attacks can be initiated from anywhere across the globe, so as a trainee Intrusion Analyst you’ll learn to use available datasets to understand and respond to both malicious cyber actor capabilities, and their intent, including the vulnerabilities that an attacker seeks to exploit.  Sometimes working collaboratively in a team and other times independently, you’ll interact with a variety of customers to tackle a variety of challenging problems. These problems will sometimes involve a high degree of uncertainty, but will reward you with enormous satisfaction, knowing that you’re contributing to your country’s National Security.

While the roles are challenging, our flexible working policy ensure a healthy work-life balance.  Wherever possible, we accommodate reduced hours or job share options, balanced against business needs.

REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade A-C (including Maths and English), or equivalent.

You must also demonstrate evidence of:

•    A real enthusiasm and curiosity for learning and keeping up to date with technological advances.
•    Ability to communicate with others.
•    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Although consideration will be given to your stated job preference, the final decision of which role candidates are placed in will be determined by GCHQ.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

At GCHQ we’re proud of our inclusive and supportive working environment that’s designed to encourage open minds and attitudes. As an organisation that values and nurtures talent, we’re committed to helping you fulfil your potential. With comprehensive training and development opportunities, tailored to your needs and the requirements of your work, we’ll enable you to flourish in your role and perform to the very best of your abilities.
