Analysis is at the heart of what GCHQ does, which means our analysts are at the very heart of our workforce. Our analysts work in a rapidly changing technological environment, solving problems on a daily basis, meaning no two days are the same.

Information comes from across the globe, in all kinds of formats, and you’ll be working with bespoke technology to piece this information together and analyse it to create a bigger picture. Working collaboratively in teams, you’ll process a large range of data to produce insightful and impactful reports for our partners and customers. These reports inform foreign policy, military operations, law enforcement activity, and national security. You’ll tackle a variety of challenging problems, sometimes involving high degrees of uncertainty.

REQUIREMENTS

We want people from all backgrounds, with great analytical skills who enjoy being challenged and can make sense of complex information. Your background, life experience and culture could be critical to giving us that vital diversity of mindsets that we need protect the country. You’ll enjoy taking responsibility for your own work, collaborating with other analysts on both short and long-term projects.

Our world is always changing and continually presents us with new analytical problems, and in order to give us the best possible chance of solving these, we need a broad range of minds, with people of all ages and experiences from across our society, who can see and understand things from different perspectives. We need people who look beyond the obvious and who think differently.

You’ll be comfortable with technology, but don’t worry if you don’t have a technical background as we’ll provide full training from the beginning. Some of our very best intelligence analysts joined us without technical knowledge, but came with a curiosity for technology, a passion for learning, and the ability to never give up on a problem.

Our comprehensive Analysis Development Programme provides you with all the training you’ll need to begin your career alongside other aspiring intelligence analysts. It includes courses such as network security, encryption, and analytical thinking. You’ll be guided by knowledgeable tutors and supported by senior analysts every step of the way. The work placements will give you the very best start to your analytical career by working on real world problems from the outset with support from expert mentors and colleagues.

Total package of £30,831 (this is made up of basic salary + £2,189 Concessionary Payment)
