At GCHQ we are looking for a number of commercial professionals to manage intriguing contracts, of varying levels of complexity, whilst negotiating new contracts for a variety of vital products and services. As this is a management position, you'll be responsible for the mentoring and development of a small team of talented and hard-working procurement officers.

Learning and development is fully supported at the organisation, so funded continuous professional development will be provided, including existing and future CIPS modules and seminars. For those who aren't fully CIPS qualified, full training for accreditation will be provided. Specific category experience is not important for these roles, however if you have a preference for a specialism (Technology, Building Services etc) then this will likely be accommodated.

Key Technical Skills

Experienced, qualified or part qualified CIPS, MCIPS or IACCM Commercial Professionals.
Proven ability of successful delivery of tasks to agreed timescales
Experience of people management & managing Commercial Teams.
Experience of managing customer relationships
Able to work with customers to manage expectations and improve service provision.

Desirable Technical Skills

Previous commercial Qualifications and /or experience
Have or have held DV or SC clearance.
Good grasp of commercial finance matters (how contractors build costs ,  balance  sheets)

A Day/Week In The Life

Leading on Commercial matters
Working with Contractors & stakeholders
Managing contracts (deliverables, performance, contract amendments)
Letting new contracts
Providing a quality service to customers (meeting customer needs on time and to budget)
Negotiating savings
Complying with Legal requirements & policy
Managing commercial risk
Managing and leading a small team – empowering and developing staff

Ideal Previous Experience:

DV Cleared Civil Servants/ public sector staff or ex staff with Commercial experience (cultural fit, understands working environment, will be quicker to vet and employ)
Ex-Military personnel with experience of Commercial related work
Proven Customer service skills
People with an industry background within a Commercial, project management or finance department.  Banking /insurance staff.  
Educated to A level /degree standard who can demonstrate an aptitude for this kind of work, with the desire to develop a career in Commercial.
