Technology Roles
Bude
£17,539-£22,248

We require candidates to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above or equivalent which include Maths, English, Science/Technology.

We are looking for a mix of skills, from those who love Internet technology, computer programming and are interested in how systems work, to those who are more analytical and love problem solving of a technical nature. If you have a passion for all things technological and a keen willingness to learn we look forward to receiving your application.

We have several types of roles under the Trainee Technical Analysts heading, at our Site at Bude.

Roles/Responsibilities

ITServices - ITServices Junior Engineer:  This role would suit people with an interest in technology.  Ideally for those with experience of Linux, Windows OS, Networks and/or ITIL, but mainly having the aptitude to learn is far more important.  You will sit within a wider team of talented people who will support and encourage you to develop to your full potential.

Capability Developer  - This is a job for people with an interest in computer programming, learning new technologies and problem-solving. We will provide training in the key technologies you will work with (these include: C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, Puppet and Kickstarts), and you will have the support of an experienced and talented team. What we ask of you is enthusiasm, a genuine desire to learn and the desire to work in a team environment.

Communications Systems Analyst - This role would suit a person who is interested in how the Internet and communications systems work, someone who is motivated to learn new things and constantly update their knowledge on new and existing technologies, either through structured training, on the job learning or self-directed learning/research.

We would like someone who can analyse a technical problem, or complex data and then work with a larger team to produce solutions, whether those are quickly scripted prototypes or working with the Dev Ops team to build a fully engineered solution. Working on a variety of different customer focussed tasks in a fast paced team, reacting positivity to change in priorities and customers demands. Knowledge of multiple Operating systems, networks and how communications systems work would be advantageous , but not essential as we are committed to developing those skills in house.

Signals Analyst – This role would suit someone with a background in Electrical and/or communications engineering, a strong interest in communications technologies and in particular wireless communications. The ideal candidate will have an interest in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) will wish to develop these skills to meet the technical challenges associated with developing a keen understanding of global communications systems.  Candidates will be expected to have strong general computing skills and especially demonstrate a good understanding of computer networks both LAN and WAN.

Data Analyst - We need people with a passion for delivering results, people who can balance a broad technical understanding and a desire to learn.

We are looking for people that are able to quickly grasp various complex concepts and put them together effectively to achieve operational outcomes.  Someone who can troubleshoot, prioritise and fault find, and are driven to get to the bottom of a challenge, and work with others to resolve them.  At its heart this role is about organisational and problem solving skills centred on a desire to see things through to a resolution.   A good understanding of Technology would be an advantage but the aptitude to learn quickly is more important.

Trainee Technical Analyst - As a Technical Analyst, your knowledge of, and a proven interest in, technology will be a crucial underpinning facet of your role. You will also need a keen analytic mindset and the ability to solve problems independently – can you look beyond the obvious? Could you find the needle in a haystack?  A willingness to learn new, challenging skills is essential if you are to keep up with the ever changing environment in which we operate, as is the ability to be creative in your approach to solving problems. A keen interest in what’s happening in the world is also a must, as your work will be driven by the ever changing geopolitical situation and the UK’s place within it. If all this sounds like the right mix of fun and challenge, then this could be the job for you.

Trainee Technical Cyber Analyst - We are looking for people who love Internet technology, people who can describe what is actually going on behind their browser, or what actually happens when you hit ‘send’ on an email. In addition, we need people with strong analytical skills, people who look beyond the obvious and have the tenacity to pursue a problem to its conclusion.

You’ll be a highly motivated individual who is keen to learn new and challenging skills in order to keep ahead of the ever-changing environment in which GCHQ operates. You’ll receive comprehensive training but will be the sort of person who is equally happy to learn independently. If this sounds like the right mix of fun and challenge then we’d love to hear from you.
