Technical Intelligence Analysts are experts in the usage and development of specialist analytic tools & techniques used to meet the dynamic challenges that GCHQ faces in its mission to protect national security, the economic well-being of the UK and to prevent serious & organised crime.

Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) is a British Intelligence Agency whose remit includes the interception and exploitation of telecommunications & electronic signals to provide defence and foreign intelligence in support of national policy and British interests world-wide. Roles

Practitioner
 
You are likely to be joining from a relevant Radio Frequency or IT related job elsewhere or have recently completed your degree in a Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) related subject, or Graphic Web Design (Degree level Minimum 2:2) or equivalent experience.

As a competent practitioner, you would be expected to work independently on complex problems and able to present clear solutions with supporting evidence.

Salary Range £25,295 - £35,226.
 
Trainee

Candidates will need to have at least 5 GCSEs (A*-C) and be projected to achieve three ‘A’ Levels at grade C or above with at least two A Levels in a STEM related subject (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths), or equivalent qualifications in STEM subjects, or equivalent experience in these areas.

As a trainee, there will be some supervision within your role, and you will be expected to demonstrate an aptitude to develop within your specialist field.

Salary Range £17,539 - £19,519.

Candidates must also have a natural passion for technology, confidence to attempt challenging, complex problems, a creative approach to problem solving, and the ability to work calmly within a fast paced, pressurised environment, communicate with, and work effectively with others, and assess information and make decisions.
 
Selection Process

As part of this campaign you will be required to undergo:
•    Minimum Eligibility Sift  – On-Line Test – Business Sift – Interview – Drug test and Security Vetting
This campaign is open and ongoing throughout the year.

The Reward Package

See salary by role. Additional payments may be available for outstanding performers. Salary and bonus payments are reviewed annually.

Additional Information

Your salary will be based upon working a 5 day week of 42 hours, including lunch intervals of 1 hour (37 hours net). A system of flexible working hours is in operation in most areas, dependant on business needs. Where available, this allows individuals to vary the times they start and finish work each day, enabling them to take up to 4 days additional leave ('flexi') per 4-week period.  There is a possibility of being asked to work shifts, currently these are 12 hours long.

Development and Training – all successful candidates would be expected to complete a mixture of formal training, on the job training and formal project work for consolidation. The level and detail would be determined by the level of skill that the candidate brings with them. This training could take place in Scarborough or Harrogate.
