Analysts are at the heart of GCHQ’s mission - turning data into the critical intelligence that helps to protect the UK. Our analysts work with complex data, understanding and interpreting it to find the crucial intelligence within it.

Requirements

GCHQ is recruiting people with strong intellectual curiosity and analytic skills to join as intelligence analysts. You will need to demonstrate a keen interest in technology and current affairs.

We are looking for people who will thrive in a team environment – sharing tasks and ideas, contributing to projects and quickly building good relationships with peers.  You will also be able to work independently, managing your own tasks and organising a portfolio of work to deliver against different priorities. You will have the ability to handle challenging deadlines and rapidly changing requirements, and be able to write with precision and confidence along with good verbal communication skills.

We are an innovative and constantly evolving organisation – we are looking for highly motivated people with initiative and tenacity. Our world will keep changing – more than anything else, you will need to demonstrate commitment to constantly developing your own knowledge & skills, especially in the spheres of technology, current affairs and analysis.

You will learn the use of new and emerging analytic tools and techniques, so you will need to have a genuine interest in technology and communications trends. Most of the technical tools our analysts use are non-standard, so we provide a full training programme in order to develop you as an intelligence analyst – you’re really not expected to have a wealth of technical knowledge or skills on day one!  Our exciting Analysis Development Programme includes courses on data networks, operating systems, forensics, encryption, coding fundamentals and data science.

We require all candidates to have or expect to achieve by the start of employment a minimum of a 2:2 in any subject.
