About Us

We’re MI6, also known as the Secret Intelligence Service. Our mission is to protect the security and economic wellbeing of the UK from overseas threats such as regional instability, terrorism, and cyber-attacks. Working across the globe and in close partnership with MI5 and GCHQ, we help the Government to counter these threats through the provision of secret intelligence. A role in MI6 will see you providing vital support to this work, within a supportive and encouraging environment that puts the emphasis on teamwork.

The Role

As a Business Change Manager, you’ll be part of the Organisational Change team, which supports and enables transformation and delivers new capability to our organisation. You’ll ensure MI6, alongside our partners MI5 and GCHQ, deliver a world-class service giving us the edge over our adversaries to protect the UK and its interests.

As part of this vital team, you’ll improve and transform our capabilities, working on projects and change initiatives you’ll support our key business areas to overcome their most important challenges. Your role will be to act as a conscience, ensuring that people - not just process or technology - are at the heart of change. You’ll facilitate stakeholder engagement and ensure everyone plays their part in the process, making sure they’re ready to adopt new ways of working.

Day-to-day you’ll have a varied range of roles and responsibilities, act as an ambassador of change, you’ll manage change communications and ensure the proposed change meets the needs of the business and is implemented in line with the approach defined by the Change Delivery Lead. You’ll develop and deliver a benefits realisation plan, assessing business readiness for change and developing a transition plan alongside the Project Manager, whilst managing and mitigating risks.

You’ll support the business area post-transition, to ensure change is sustained and benefits are realised throughout the change lifecycle. Finally, you’ll take a key training and coaching role, developing training needs analysis and planning training approaches for change, as well as mentoring and developing Change Analysts to grow within the organisation.

About You

You’ll have experience in change management or project delivery, or a professional change management qualification. You’ll have used your skills and experience to plan and deliver change in a benefits management framework, having used your solutions-oriented mindset to resolve day-to-day issues creatively and tactfully.

You’ll be eager to develop professionally, whilst staying up to date with the latest emerging change initiatives and approaches, as you apply Agile and Waterfall methodologies. A skilled communicator, you’ll influence a range of customers and stakeholders, collaborating with staff at all levels and mentoring junior members of the team. You’ll be supportive and proactive, identifying and removing items that inhibit progress, and maintaining a positive work atmosphere while you deliver challenging and complex projects.

Training and Development

When you join us, you’ll have a full induction to the organisation, which will help you get to grips with how we operate. You’ll then have a team induction to give you a rounded understanding of business change, followed by on-the-job training to help you settle in.

We're committed to developing our staff and recognise that this will look different for everyone. That’s why we offer tailored training, mentoring, and a buddy scheme, working with you to build the skills you need. There’s plenty of room for growth in this role too, as we’ll support you through our Continuing Professional Development framework, in addition to creating a bespoke plan for your training and development.

There are also several development schemes available, including career pathways which cover specialism tracks, alongside the opportunity to achieve further change management qualifications to help you thrive in your career.

Rewards and Benefits

You’ll receive a starting salary of £43,172 - £49,891 plus other benefits including:
