Inexperienced Hire Intelligence Officer Ref. 1092

For over a century we have sought to attract the very best talent the country has to offer into our intelligence officer cadre.  This entry level is aimed predominantly at graduates (or those who are due to graduate in the next few months) who have limited work experience but can show potential to be an intelligence officer.  

You will be at the start of your career, have a 2:1 (or expect to have one in the next six months) and be a British national.  Please do not apply if you have applied to the Intelligence Officer or Operational Data Analyst role previously in the last 2 years with this organisation, and reached a half day testing session or further, as we will be unable to consider you.  We are looking to recruit graduates to join SIS in January 2018, following the successful completion of the recruitment and vetting processes. 

The starting salary will be £32,329.  Successful candidates will spend at least the first two years of their career in London with training starting immediately on joining.  There will be opportunities for overseas postings as your career progresses.

If successful you will receive enhanced training and support at the start of your career.  This will include operational training giving candidates the skills to do the three intelligence officer roles (targeter, R officer and case officer) and behavioural training according to personal needs in order to help you transition into a professional environment.  You will also be supported through a mentoring programme.  There may also be opportunities to learn languages.  As is the case with all our employees, development opportunities will not only be available at the start of your career, but rather will be opportunities to learn and develop skills throughout your career.

What is important is the mix of these skills, not your background or which university you got your degree from.  We want to attract a truly diverse workforce which reflects the society we serve.  To achieve this, when we consider your application initially we will not know your name, gender, family background, which school or university you went to, or your grades at A-level.

The Application Process

After completing an initial short set of questions on eligibility and registering your details you will be invited to complete two sets of online tests. The next stage will be an application form where you are invited to answer a range of questions relevant to SIS’s values and the competencies we use to assess candidates.

If successful, you will be invited to an assessment day which will consist of an interview, group exercise and further testing.  These will take place in late June and early July 2017.

Successful candidates will then progress to a final two-day assessment centre, which will take place in late July and August 2017.

Any successful candidates will then enter into the vetting process.
