As a Security Officer for MI6 you’ll maintain the security of our buildings, carry out reception duties and control and monitor staff, contractors and visitors access to our premises. You’ll be a reassuring, professional presence, conducting searches where necessary, monitoring security systems and responding to alarms and incidents as they arise. You must hold a ‘clean’ UK driving licence as you may have occasional driving responsibilities and be able to deliver first aid if required.  

As a new Security Officer you will receive induction training and supervision from your supervisor. You will receive training to the required SIA standard if you do not already have recognised security qualifications.

You will work a shift pattern which is an average of 48 hours per week over a 6 week period including weekends, nights and Bank Holidays.

About you

To become a security officer for MI6 you will need to have a mature and responsible attitude to work and a reasonable level of physical fitness. You will also need to be confident to challenge people when necessary and have the ability to use your initiative to make quick decisions when dealing with unexpected situations or in an emergency. You will also need to have GCSE English Language and Mathematics grade C or above and be confident with Microsoft word and excel.

Additional Criteria

To apply to MI6, you must be a born or naturalized British citizen, over 18 years old and normally have been based in the UK for six of the last ten years.
