The behavioural science Research and Innovation team is a key component of the Service’s wider behavioural science capability. Comprising psychologists, anthropologists, sociologists and behavioural data scientists, the mission of the Research and Innovation team is to translate behavioural science theory and evidence into practical applications that serve as critical enablers to SIS operations and corporate services.

In this role, you’ll participate in and lead internal and external behavioural science research projects. You will capture the requirements for behavioural science research, communicate relevant findings back to customers, and support innovation to build behavioural science insights into the Service’s capabilities.

A behavioural scientist with a strong background in applied social science research and innovation, your skills will be drawn from a variety of contexts. For instance, you may have already worked as a behavioural scientist in an intelligence, military or law enforcement context. You may have a background in delivery of behavioural science research and innovation that has been shown to make a difference in another applied context.

Alternatively, your background may be in an academic research setting where you undertook and delivered research that made a real-World difference. Ideally you will have a strong record of academic publications and evidence of the impact of your work on topics relevant to intelligence work. You will have a proven track record of supporting the development of others, management of research projects and communication of behavioural science to non-psychologists.
