The role

Information is the lifeblood of our organisations, so our Information Management teams develop intelligent and innovative approaches to ensure it is managed, protected and exploited effectively.

As one of our Information Managers you'll be managing and exploiting information efficiently to support every aspect of our business. It's a challenging, varied and rewarding environment that demands a highly professional and effective approach.

You will work closely with stakeholders and customers across the organisation and the combination of your communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to interact with and influence them to ensure that developments in information management tools and practices are implemented. By doing this you will help us and the wider intelligence community to gain maximum benefit from the information we gather.

About you

Expected skills, knowledge and experience:

Essential

  * Experience of working with customers to address information problems through policy, process or behavioural change
  * Experience of working as part of a team to deliver information management services
  * Knowledge of trends in information management (particularly how traditional information management techniques are being translated for the digital age)
  * Knowledge of the relationship between information management, UK law and regulatory regimes
  * Understanding of information management and document management technologies
  * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with both technical and non-technical staff
  * Self-motivated, organised, proactive and innovative, with the ability to cope under pressure in the context of strict deadlines
  * Recognised qualification, for example those accredited by CILIP, IRMS or ARA
     AND/OR
     3+ years relevant professional experience which demonstrates equivalent skills and knowledge

Desirable

  * Experience of assessing how users interact with and use information systems and implementing improvements to increase information exploitation and information compliance
  * Knowledge of/or experience of working with an EDRMS to support information management activities in an organisation
  * Understanding of information classification techniques including metadata, taxonomies and classification schemes
  * Strong ability to extract information by questioning, active listening and interviewing
