Role

As a trainee or experienced systems support engineer within SIS’s 2nd and 3rd Line IT support teams you will work within a strong team environment, providing IT support to a number of SIS’s IT systems at the infrastructure, OS, middleware and application layers. These include the following:

• Citrix based infrastructure, and related technologies

• Hypervisors

• Windows Server 2012 – 2016

• Networking skills and devices

• Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS)

• Linux Infrastructure, primarily Centos and RHEL based

Whilst the job is primarily standard office hours, after a period of training, the job holders might be expected to provide on call support to systems as part of a team rota.


Experience/Skills and Qualifications

Trainee candidates will be developed throughout the role including professional external training and qualifications. As an experienced candidate, you will have a comprehensive understanding of 2nd and 3rd Line Support Engineering. You will also provide technical and team leadership, and good communication skills in order to foster close collaboration within your teams and with key stakeholders:
 
Experience in the following disciplines from previous employment will be advantageous, but a keen desire to become a long term technology specialist in this area is just as important.

• Windows Server & Desktop administration skills & qualifications (MCSA/MCSE)

• Citrix skills & qualifications (focusing on XenDesktop, XenApp and Netscaler)

• Virtualisation technologies  (VMware / Hyper-V)

• Networking skills, including VPNs and Firewalls

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CENTOS

• ITIL
