We are keen to identify motivated individuals, with an interest in both data analytics and people, to play a vital role supporting our high priority work.  As a member of SIS (MI6) you will be part of a joint data analyst cadre across GCHQ/MI5 and SIS.  Our SIS operational data analysts turn raw data into meaningful insights that help us to keep our country safe and prosperous.  You will be at the cutting edge of data analysis and partner collaboration as you play a vital role in supporting operational colleagues on high priority requirements. You will be challenged with some of the most difficult work and fascinating problems to solve, using your technical and interpersonal skills

We make a considerable investment in developing our operational data analysts’ skills.   You will join a diverse, skilful community of like-minded individuals to complete a 2 year training programme focussed on technical and analytical tools.  You must be prepared to move location during training (for the working week, Monday to Friday), as this is not initially London based – there will be additional financial support during this time. Once trained, you will be allocated an operational data analyst role working both in virtual teams, occasionally co-located teams in and out of London, and with our partner agencies. Longer term, there are likely to be overseas opportunities.

Who we are looking for

Successful candidates are passionate about data, are technically savvy and they enjoy making connections and discovering trends.  They are curious and like to solve puzzles. They are willing to share, work collaboratively, are creative, while being prepared to fail and can manage ambiguity. Above all, your interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams are paramount.

Requirements:

You’ll have at least a 2.2 degree, with Maths and English GCSE A-C.   Proven IT qualifications are an asset, but can be taught during training. What’s important is your familiarity with IT generally. The two year training programme is focussed on technical analytical tools, and how to apply them to support SIS operations. And this will draw on your proven interpersonal skills.

You need to be a British citizen, aged 21 or over to apply

You should not discuss your application, other than with your partner or close family member, providing that they are British.  They should also be made aware of the importance of discretion

Contrary to some people's pre-conceptions, there is not an MI6 'type'. The Service strives for diversity in the work place and is committed to the creation and maintenance of a climate in which all staff are treated fairly on the grounds of merit and ability. We judge you solely by the value that you can add to our work.

The Service is also proud to be a member of the Stonewall Diversity Champions Programme in recognition of our commitment to equality of opportunity regardless of sexual orientation.

This Program / Vacancy is closed to applications.
