Shape a deeper level of intelligence

MI6 is the UK's foreign human intelligence agency. As the threat evolves, so must we. The curiosity, insight and intuition of our people is critical. Creating efficiencies, new approaches and technology, they’re all helping us keep ahead of our adversaries. Now, to help us continue to adapt and grow, we're looking for the country's best Business Analysts.

About the role

Change has become the new normal, and that makes it an exciting time to join us. As our Business Analyst, you’ll help ensure that every change we make meets the real needs of customers, delivering tangible, measurable benefits to what we do.

You’ll make a significant impact on and inform the case for change. As well as working closely with our Change Manger, you’ll build rapport, trust and effective relationships with our stakeholders. Using your first-class communication skills, you’ll develop user cases, user stories and customer personas and benefits documentation. Conversant with a range of tools and frameworks, you’ll always specify the right tool for the job. Crucially, you’ll ensure that while we’re making transitions, it’s always business as usual.

About you

You’re an experienced and qualified Business Analyst and you’re fluent in an Agile methodology. Ideally, you’ve operated within different change environments and engaged a range of internal customers and stakeholders. You also have some experience of mentoring more junior colleagues.

It matters that you’re interested in new technologies and equally comfortable communicating with system developers and customers. You’re skilled in facilitation, and you enjoy helping people articulate their needs, even when it’s something they don’t know they want. What’s also important is that you bring a structured approach to analysis and documentation, and you’re quality focused.

What we’ll offer you

Working in MI6 will give you challenge, inspiration and a real sense of purpose to your work. You’ll be enabled and supported to make a real difference in a truly unique environment.

We take learning seriously at MI6, so you’ll benefit from a broad range of development and training opportunities. From the moment you join, you’ll be supported to understand what we do and how we do it, including how we operate overseas. We support flexible working arrangements and actively encourage a healthy life/work balance. We value professional skills, and offer candidates an additional allowance which reflects the importance we place on change management and business analysis.

Apply

To apply to MI6, you must be a born or naturalised British citizen, over 21 years old and normally have been based in the UK for six of the last ten years. You should not discuss your application with anyone other than your partner or a close family member providing that they are British. They should also be made aware of the importance of discretion.

MI6 strives for diversity in the workplace and is committed to the creation and maintenance of a climate in which all staff are treated fairly on the grounds of merit and ability.
