Where being a lawyer,
Helps protect the nation.

At MI6, the threats we face are ever-evolving. We operate globally, keeping the UK safe. So in this unpredictable world, we need the country’s finest legal minds. People who want a career with a real purpose, that challenges them every day.

We have recently run a very successful campaign to complete our team. We are now expanding and seeking additional lawyers.

We’re looking for excellent team players with the intellectual agility to deal with a wide range of legal issues affecting our people.  You’ll deal with a variety of corporate and employment law issues. You’ll work collaboratively but with little supervision, responding quickly, accurately and authoritatively to a variety of often complex queries.
You’ll need strong communication skills, a great sense of humour and a confidence and credibility that inspires trust and support from your colleagues.

Whilst we can’t offer home working, we do offer various forms of flexible working to enable a good work-life balance.

To join us, you’ll be degree-qualified with sound PQE experience from a leading city, national or regional law firm or a barrister from a respected set of chambers. Employment law experience is desirable, while having a background in handling other common law matters would be an advantage. Above all, you’ll enjoy applying your skills and expertise for one, single reason: protecting the nation.

To apply to MI6 you must be a born or naturalised British citizen, over 18 years old and normally have been based in the UK for six of the last ten years. You should not discuss your application with anyone other than your partner or a close family member providing that they are British. They should also be made aware of the importance of discretion.

The UK Intelligence Agencies – MI5/MI6/GCHQ are Equal Opportunities employers, committed to reflecting the society we protect.  Our recruitment process is fair, transparent and based on merit.  We particularly welcome applications from diverse and under-represented groups.
