£33,350 rising to £36,053 after 1 year

THIS VACANCY IS CLOSED AND WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM THE 25TH JANUARY.

In a complex world, the impact you make will become clear.

At MI5, we protect the UK from all sorts of threats – from terrorism, through to cyber-attacks. Our Intelligence Analysts are crucial to this. But it’s only with different perspectives that we can make the connections that keep our country safe. So when you join our development programme, you’ll be valued for what you bring and do some truly meaningful work.

On this programme, you’ll work with our data. But it’s really all about understanding people – their interests, relationships and interactions. So while you’ll learn the relevant technical skills, you’ll also understand the story data is telling. You’ll have access to tools that aren’t found anywhere else. And we’ll even fund external courses and give you 12 days a year to learn and build your skills. The support and development you’ll be given on day one never stops.

When you first join, you’ll take on some initial classroom-based training with other new analysts. You’ll all start at the same level, so there’s a real community feel. Plus, it’s a great chance to meet people who share your interest in analysis. You’ll then take on three different analyst postings in our welcoming teams over the next five years.

In every role, you’ll be the first person to see the data from all kinds of sources. And you’ll also work in close partnership with Intelligence Officers, passing on your newly found intelligence. You’ll both draw on each other’s expertise and directly impact investigations. After three years, you’ll be a fully accredited Analyst with tried and tested skills. Within five, you’ll be highly experienced with an exciting future ahead.  At every stage of your career, you’ll be helping to protect the people, places and things that matter to you.

We’re looking for you to be your naturally curious and determined self. That’s how you’ll question everything, spot things others don’t and communicate with all kinds of people. Your attention to detail will also really impress us – along with your interest in data analysis. Plus, you’ll always take your own initiative and go that step further. While you don’t need to have expert coding or programming skills, you’ll be keen to develop them with our support and training. You might also have a degree, but this doesn’t need to be in a particular subject. It’s really all about the kind of person you are.

Although our work can, at times, be challenging, the way we work isn’t. Our offices are open, friendly and relaxed. We come together to share ideas and collaborate. And we all enjoy a really healthy work-life balance.

So join us, and let your impact become clear.
