Salary: £42,109 to £45523 plus 12.5% shift allowance, weekend premium and contractual overtime. 36-hour week average, 7 (12 hour) shifts in 14 days.

Our estates team is responsible for managing our dynamic estate, delivering high quality building services, FM (Facilities Management) support services, projects and workplace change across a wide variety of building types primarily keeping these operational so we can maintain our critical front-line business function.

Our team

Our hard services team are predominately based in London but control the operation of plant and service delivery across a varied estate throughout the UK; with a variety of working patterns, dedicated round the clock operations managers and day support staff, drive our can-do approach in support of the business mission. 

In this role, you will be required to support Building Operations in West London and East Anglia as required. In a sometimes-fast-moving environment, our team is capable of flexing to meet routine, time critical and occasionally unusual demands.  This is achieved via the Principal FM contractor who employs static day and night shift staff at various sites supported by specialist sub-contractors.

Who you are?

As an experienced  multi-discipline engineering  manager,  able to demonstrate:  

•    Experience in management, operations and leadership with a mechanical or electrical background whilst holding a suitable qualification up to HNC (Higher National Certificate) or equivalent level. 
•    Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners and stakeholders through negotiation.
•    Excellent  written  and verbal  communication skills and be confident in leading others. 
•    Ability to assess information and make informed decisions. 
•    Understand plant criticality to enable critical thinking and problem solving. 
•    Stress tolerance and ability to work under pressure. 
•    Excellent negotiator. 
•    Outstanding organisational skills. 
•    An understanding of maintenance regimes and life cycle planning. 
•    Ability to achieve and maintain Approved Person status in multiple disciplines to maintain a safe system of works.
•    Ability to undertake work audits and provide reports for action.
•    Ability to use a CAFM (Computer Aided Facility Management) system.
•    Ability to evaluate quotes for remedial works thus obtaining value for money.
 
What you’ll do

Within our dedicated hard services team our building operations managers work closely with each other, our principal Facilities Maintenance main contractor and key sub-contractors  24 hours a day 365 days a year. You will be expected to:

•    Manage, monitor and control the operation of plant and systems within the building  effectively with minimal disruption and  downtime, including electrical distribution, mechanical systems, security equipment, fire equipment, building management systems, and UPS systems. 
•    Identify areas of improvement  and  take ownership of problems, identify solutions and deliver high quality outcomes. 
•    Promote our culture that encourages top performance and high morale. 
•    Ensure regulatory compliance. 
•    Using your excellent communication skills build partnerships with key stakeholders and other organisations. 
•    Make reasoned judgements and escalate matters where appropriate. 
•    Carry out audits for H & S in our controlled areas.
•    Control finances for maintenance works by assessment and internal finance controls.
•    Work a flexible shift pattern to meet the requirement of the hard service team or site, whilst considering your work / life balance.

•    A one-day assessment centre (online or in person tbc) which includes:
o    Documents check
o    Competetncy question-based interview
o    Drugs test
•    Vetting process
•    Contract signing
•    Induction course
•    Start work in your team

Please note, you must successfully pass each stage of the process in order to progress to the next. Your application may take around 6 - 9 months to process including vetting, so we advise you continue any current employment until you have received your final job offer.
