MI5, MI6 and GCHQ (our UK Intelligence Agencies) are working collaboratively to develop our unique procurement team, procuring goods and services to protect threats to national security.

The Role

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Procurement Managers to join our diverse procurement team.
 
As a Procurement Manager, you will support the Procurement Lead by managing a small commercial team and actively seek to build their capability and enhance the team’s impact; through continuous development of working practices and approaches.

Engaging with customers at all levels, from project managers up to director level, you will provide a responsive, timely, efficient, sustainable and professional procurement service in line with commercial policy. You will work closely with our customers in highly sensitive operational areas, supporting them through the delivery of goods and services. In line with our customer requirements, you will ensure timely delivery of procurement projects against the departmental work plan.

Regular UK travel is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

•    Deliver a highly professional and valued service; managing and supporting others in the delivery of a range of procurement projects
•    Monitor and review contract performance and delivery to ensure requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met
•    Support the Procurement Lead, taking full responsibility for delegated duties that may include requirements gathering, contract implementation, contract management and tendering
•    Contribute to the development of individual category strategies
•    Apply best practice Commercial principles, assisting in the resolution of contractual issues in collaboration with experts, where required
•    Analyse commercial risk and identify trade-offs in a commercial area of work

The Person

You will possess a sound understanding and knowledge of best practice procurement processes, methodologies and practices, and have experience and enthusiasm for working in and developing a procurement and supply chain service. Experience of leading and motivating a small team to deliver positive outcomes, is desirable.

Evidence of strong communication and customer relationship skills, alongside a good team working ethic, are essential for the role. You will have the ability to work with others collaboratively by engaging with customers at all levels, imbedding change, resolving issues internally and helping teams to overcome setbacks.

Experience of securing value for money within a best practice procurement function and a minimum of 3 years procurement experience are desirable.

You will be willing to work towards a CIPS or business equivalent qualification. Support can be provided to attain a relevant qualification.

Recruitment Process

The first thing we will ask you to do is complete our pre-screening questions to find out if you meet our initial criteria. If you do meet these criteria we will then ask you to begin an application.

All successful applicants will be invited to attend a competency based face to face interview to further explore your skills and motivation for the role. If you are successful at this stage, you will be required to attend a security interview with a vetting officer. Guaranteed Interview Scheme

Eligibility Criteria
