Whatever your role at MI5, you’ll be helping to safeguard the UK against threats relating to terrorism and espionage. By joining MI5 as a Vehicle Technician, you will be playing a significant part in keeping our country safe.

The Role
Your primary role will be conducting maintenance and repair on the organisation’s vehicle fleet in our Fleet and Engineering Services Team.

The team ensures that all organisational vehicles are maintained to the highest standards in order to meet the organisation’s requirements.

You’ll largely be based in one of our 2 state of the art London workshop facilities to provide diagnostic, maintenance and repair services across the varied range of organisational vehicles. This could mean changing a tyre or lamp filament, diagnosing an electrical glitch in an air conditioning system, to stripping down and re-building an entire transmission system using our high-tech tools and equipment. You’ll also be expected to be on an on-call duty recovery rota (24/7), usually a week in every 6, but don’t worry, we’ll provide training where necessary.

With a fleet of 1000 vehicles, including over 30 manufacturers, no day is ever the same. From generators to trailers, motorcycles, cars and HGVs, you’ll always be challenged.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in support of our operational sections, having a direct impact on the safety and well-being of the public. Training is high on the agenda and we will ensure you are equipped with the skills you need in order to do the job to the best of your ability.

Though London-based, there will be occasions when you are occasionally required to work outside of London.

The Person
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is eager to learn new skills. A flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to changing requirements is also critical to the role.

To apply it is essential for you to have:
City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ qualifications (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Technology and demonstrable practical experience in this area to support this.
On-board vehicle diagnostic knowledge and experience
A full UK driving licence

Whilst it is not essential, it is desirable for you to have gained experience of the following, or have a willingness to gain this experience.
Working in a manufacturer-based workshop environment. We offer manufacturer-based training if required.
C+E/HGV/Vehicle Recovery qualifications and experience
C1 Licence
MOT tester qualification
IT Literacy
