Attracting the right people to join MI5 is central to our mission. We are looking for a proactive and creative marketing manager to lead on the delivery of all external marketing campaigns, manage our careers website, and work with our diversity manager on implementing an ambitious outreach plan.

This is an exciting time for recruitment at MI5. This unique role will give you the opportunity to work closely with external agencies, internal stakeholders and recruitment managers to drive innovative marketing campaigns and attract diverse talent into the organisation. Crucially, you will be responsible for ensuring that all MI5’s recruitment marketing campaigns represent the values of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities

·    Work in partnership with recruitment managers, customer sections and external agencies to develop cost-effective marketing and advertising strategies for recruitment campaigns
·    Advise on the creative marketing conducted by MI5, liaising with the corporate communications team, to safeguard the brand and ensure value for money
·    Evaluate external agency creative proposals, providing constructive feedback, and monitor the effectiveness of ongoing campaigns
·    Collaborate with the diversity manager and recruitment partner agencies to develop strategies to increase the diversity of candidates applying to MI5
·    Lead on the ongoing development strategy of the careers website and develop interactive content to give an insight into MI5
·    Incorporate recommendations from annual external graduate market research
·    Line manage a marketing and diversity officer

Key Skills

You’ll be a strong communicator, collaborative when liaising with customer sections, credible when briefing senior managers and assertive when giving recruitment agency feedback. You’ll also be robust when challenging suppliers on value for money and have an eye for detail to quality assure creative work. Excellent written communication skills are vital, with an ability to write for different audiences and in different formats.

Strong project management skills are essential, with an ability to work across campaigns and projects. You’ll stay on top of actions to ensure campaigns launch on time and other marketing activities such as web/video content are delivered. Strong organisational skills and an ability to prioritise are important, whilst remaining flexible in your approach to meet deadlines.

An ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels is essential, as is an ability to analyse potential reputational implications of decisions. You’ll be comfortable working autonomously, leading your own projects and making decisions. You will also confidently advise colleagues on appropriate solutions and provide direction to non-specialist colleagues.

Experience

We require an experienced marketing, campaign or account manager with a proven track record in delivering a range of advertising campaigns and providing advice to customers about media strategy/planning. Ideally you will also have experience of implementing cost-effective public-sector recruitment campaigns. Importantly, you will bring an up-to-date knowledge of current marketing trends, online and social media-based marketing and recruitment platforms.

Experience of delivering initiatives aimed at increasing candidates from diverse audiences is desirable, as is experience of managing external agencies and evaluating campaign performance. Experience of working with corporate communication teams to manage reputational risk would also be beneficial.

Recruitment Process

The first thing we will ask you to do is complete our pre-screening questions to find out if you meet our initial criteria. If you do meet these criteria we will then ask you to begin an application.
You will need to create a log in and provide your full name, email address and a memorable password. Once you have successfully created a personal account, you will be required to complete an initial registration form, providing contact details and equal opportunities monitoring information.
You will then be invited to upload your CV and complete an online application form. Our recruitment team will conduct a sift of your application.
If you are successful at the sift stage, you will be invited to attend an interview in London. If you successfully pass this stage you will be made a conditional offer of employment. This offer is made on the condition that you pass the Developed Vetting (DV) stages of the process, which will include a security interview with one of our vetting officers.

Guaranteed Interview Scheme

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply, you must meet our residency criteria. You must be a born or naturalised British citizen and one of your parents must be a British citizen or have substantial ties to the UK.

Candidates must normally have been resident in the UK for nine out of the last ten years. This is particularly important if you were born outside the UK. However, we will still consider you if you’ve served overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of Her Majesty’s Government, studied abroad, or lived overseas with your parents.

Due to vetting requirements, you will need to be 18 years old, or above, to apply. Your application may take around six months to process.
