MI5, MI6 and GCHQ help protect the UK and UK interests from threats to national security at home and abroad. It means we work against everything from terrorism and espionage, to cyber threats and sabotage.

We are in the process of creating a new Shared Corporate Services Organisation to deliver a range of services including human resources, finance, security, vetting and commercial. This organisation will sit at the centre of the agencies’ strategies and mission, and will allow us to deliver more whilst keeping our staff and other assets safe and secure. Finance is at the heart of all business decisions and actions and we are looking for finance professionals to help ensure we manage our money effectively and make the most of our resources.

We have a range of roles available based in London and Cheltenham.

The Role

If you have the drive and talent to develop your career, we will provide the financial and study support you need to gain Chartered Accountant status.

Key Responsibilities

•    Follow monthly and year-end procedures and keeping data records up-to-date
•    Work to deadlines and provide timely, quality financial data and information
•    Engage with teams to assist with forecasting and financial planning
•    Maintain financial data within the ERP (enterprise resource planning) system and support wider finance tasks
•    Help implement improvements in systems and processes

The Person

•    You will be AAT qualified (studying/preparing to study for) or have a degree in finance (or equivalent)

•    An understanding and knowledge of financial processes and practices is essential to the role and ideally you will have worked on budgets or the reconciliation of suspense accounts

•    You will be able to identify and quantify financial risks and issues and communicate them clearly to managers

•    You will possess an understanding of organisational policies, procedures and controls and why they are in place

•    Evidence of well-developed written and oral communication skills, alongside a good team working ethic are essential for the role

•    You will have experience of managing data and producing quality management information and contributing to the production of financial reports

•    You will have a knowledge of MS Office including MS Excel and ERP accounting systems
